The cottonmouth, also known as a water moccasin or water pit viper, is the only kind of viper that can live in the water. Once they do, they lash out and inject their venom into the victim, waiting for it to become incapacitated before they start to eat it. The Big Brown Bat (Eptesicus fuscus) is also common in the northern areas. Even for those without a flat-out phobia, snakes are often unsettling. In most states, non-venomous snakes are protected from indiscriminate killing. They'll get into pools, screened porches, and oftentimes, the home itself. In areas with high native snake populations, snake-proof fences may be erected to keep the slithery pests away from children in play areas, though enclosing entire yards with snake-proof fencing often proves prohibitively expensive. Sometimes they'll sunbathe to raise temperature.

None of these animals are actually blind, but they do use echolocation in order to aid in navigation on the wing. Contact a professional wildlife management technician for positive identification. One way that can be used in removing a raccoon nest is to place a radio that has been set to a talk radio station in the surrounding area of their nest. The primary concern seems to be fear of snakes (Ophidiophobia) which many people have. Snakes eat such animals as frogs, salamanders, insects, worms, small rodents and birds. Venomous snakes have sharp, hollow fangs designed to pierce skin and inject venom. They sleep in roosts during the daytime, and emerge at dusk. As it moves through these other areas it causes incredible damage. Getting rid of raccoons takes an integrated approach; applying several control methods at once will give you better success at eliminating raccoons and keeping them away. They tolerate and even prefer very high temperatures. These bats are small, with a wingspan of 8 inches, and a weight of less than half an ounce. Blood vessels are destroyed that have carried the toxin, but the toxin still is able to spread.
